Frequently Asked Questions
About Steve Boxall Photography
-
Q: Who is Steve Boxall?
A: I’m a UK-born, Miami-based photographer working across corporate, editorial, industrial, lifestyle, and aviation photography. My work combines a British sensibility with a South Florida edge — honest, energetic, and focused on real people in real moments.
-
Q: What kind of photography do you specialize in?
A: I mostly photograph people at work — executives, teams, and workforces in action. I also shoot large-scale projects like industrial sites, transport, aviation, and unique experiences (such as Zero-G parabolic flights). My style is natural, bold, and people-first, avoiding overly staged or artificial looks.
-
Q: Where are you based? Do you travel?
A: I’m based in Miami, Florida, but I regularly travel throughout the U.S. and internationally for assignments. Travel arrangements and rates are built into my estimates when projects are outside Miami.
Booking & Options
-
Q: How do bookings work?
A: I work on an option-based booking system. This means I can hold a date for you under “Option 1.” If another client requests the same date, you’ll have first right to confirm before it moves to “Option 2.” Once confirmed, standard cancellation terms apply.
-
Q: What are your rates?
A: Rates are based on a creative fee (my time and expertise) plus usage (how the images will be used). I also include standard line items such as equipment, crew, travel, and post-production when needed. Every project gets a clear, itemized estimate.
-
Q: Do you transfer copyright?
A: No. I retain copyright, but clients receive broad usage rights: unlimited use, forever, everywhere. This helps protect photographers’ livelihoods while giving you maximum flexibility. If you require full copyright transfer, that’s negotiated at a higher rate.
Style & Process
-
Q: How would you describe your photography style?
A: Clean, authentic, and story-driven. I like to keep things simple — often working with minimal setups — so the focus stays on people and the environment. The goal is timeless imagery with energy and honesty.
-
Q: Do you shoot with film or digital?
A: Most commercial work is digital for speed and flexibility. Occasionally, I’ll shoot personal projects or special campaigns on film for a unique look.
-
Q: What gear do you use?
A: Professional full-frame digital cameras with high-end lenses (including some vintage glass) and lighting kits. I adapt setups to the job — from one-light portraits to multi-crew productions.
Delivery & Post-Production
-
Q: How do you deliver images?
A: Final images are delivered digitally via a secure online gallery or download link. For larger productions, delivery may include client drives or cloud transfers.
-
Q: How quickly will I receive my images?
A: Most jobs are delivered within a few business days. Larger projects with retouching may take longer, but I always provide a clear timeline upfront. Same-day delivery is available for certain shoots (like corporate headshots).
-
Q: Do you include retouching?
A: Basic color correction and global adjustments are included. Additional retouching (skin work, compositing, etc.) is available at an added cost if requested.
Miscellaneous
-
Q: Do you provide video as well as photography?
A: Yes. I often add short video clips to projects (interviews, b-roll, event coverage) and work with trusted video partners when a larger production is needed.
-
Q: Do you work with agencies or directly with clients?
A: Both. I collaborate with agencies, production companies, and directly with corporate teams.
-
Q: How do we start the process?
A: Reach out with your project details — what you need shot, when, where, and how the images will be used. From there, I’ll send an estimate and we’ll confirm the booking.
